The journey
Immortal Baba makes music for the hours when a dancefloor stops being a room full of strangers. Working across psychedelic, progressive and downtempo electronic forms, he builds sets that move like ceremonies: patient at the opening, relentless through the middle, and quiet enough at the end that people remember it.
The sound is a deliberate collision. On one side, the rhythmic and modal language of Indian classical and folk music — tabla, dholak, drone, raga-derived melody. On the other, the machine precision of contemporary electronic production: long-form arrangement, deep sub-bass, and texture that is built rather than sampled. Neither half is decoration for the other.
That approach comes out of playing to real rooms rather than to a format. Underground nights, beach stages, forest floors and festival closing sets each ask for something different, and the catalogue reflects it — from the ash-and-afterglow of Bhasma to the driving ceremony of Rituals of Existence.
He releases through Ragadelic Records and continues to perform across India and beyond. The intention has not changed since the first set: same frequency, different places.
What makes it different
Four things hold the music together. They are the reason a set sounds like this one and not like the one before it.
Sound
Psychedelic and progressive electronic music built on deep, patient grooves — arranged long-form, for rooms rather than playlists.
Roots
Indian classical and folk rhythm and melody, used structurally rather than as ornament. The percussion is the argument, not the garnish.
Ritual
A set has a shape: an opening, a threshold, a peak and a return. It is programmed as one piece of music, not a queue of tracks.
People
No borders and no hierarchy. The floor is the point — the artist is one more person in the room, facing the same direction.
